“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.I’ll showyou how to take a real rest.Walk with me and work with me and watch how I do it.Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly”
Matthew 11; 25 -30
The gospel reading for today gives us a wonderful invitation from Jesus, to get away with him, to rest with him, but this invitation goes even deeper because in the he is saying,
Come to me, enjoy my presence, my company
Come to me and receive my power and peace
Come to me and know of my healing love
Come to me, on,whom your life depends
Come, all who labour, in field or factory ,in shop or office, in school
Come all who labour in vain and for nothing
Come all who are carrying heavy burden with personal problems, with fear, with doubt with debt, with grief and sin
Come to me and i will give you rest
Come let me revive you, refresh and restore you
Come to me and be with me.
This invitation is for all of us to take, to take not with one hand behind the back with fingers crossed but with true faith.
